If you want to take a walk in the forest and look for ancient remains at the same time, go to Trestensbacken. There is a large grave field from the older Iron Age with more than 200 visible graves. Well, visible ones should be taken with a pinch of salt, some are easy to see, others more difficult, so it requires a lot of attention if you want to find them all. Time to explore in a beautiful forest environment!
Almost all of the older Iron Age burial forms are represented on the wooded ridge - mounds, monuments and, above all, stone settlements in various forms.
At the top of the ridge are three tall standing stones flanked by two large mounds. Together they form a very straight line and it is clear that the whole monument was constructed according to a specific plan. Take away the forest of today and you will understand that the location was well chosen, high and visible from afar. Tombs, but also a place for religious ceremonies - just imagine what went on there!
Not far from Trestensbacken is Kromsta country estate, with a wide range of locally produced food products.
