Liberating Dance at Säfsta Community Center
Time
Welcome to "Liberating Dance" at Säfsta Community Center
5 Thursday evenings this fall:
September 10, September 24, October 8, October 22, and November 5 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
What is Liberating Dance?
The urge to move to rhythms, to music as a source of joy and expression, has existed since time immemorial and is deeply rooted in us as human beings.
Anyone can dance Liberating Dance, regardless of gender, age, or physical ability, and you can move while standing, sitting, or lying down. In Liberating Dance, we dance without choreography or pressure to perform, so that you can discover your own movements in an intuitive, non-judgmental, and healthy way. The foundations of Liberating Dance are free movement, breathing, and mindful presence. No prior experience is required.
The dance class usually begins with a body-focused dance—a dance that emphasizes the body’s various parts and how they work together—and then moves on to seven different rhythms and movement qualities set to a variety of music. The class concludes with relaxing elements. A trained dance instructor will guide you safely through the dance.
