The story of Ellen Lagergren is a musical motorcycle journey in the interwar period in the footsteps of a folk music collector. Now the storytelling performance comes to Lilla Utön on Ängsö!
Ellen Lagergren was a fiddler and estradör, who traveled around on a motorcycle in the 1930s and collected a treasure of songs from Västmanland. Performed here on key harps, violin and vocals.
The year is 1930 and it is Ellen Lagergren (1882-1966) at the wheel who takes us around to visit and get to know some fiddlers and women in the village. Ellen was a fiddler and an estradör, deeply passionate about the preservation of the "old" music, both by collecting, writing down and playing in living tradition the songs that you will hear in this performance.
We meet in the love for folk culture, folk costumes, folk music and stories about essence and folklore with the link to what it means to be part of the chain of tradition and also a female fiddler in the interwar period and the advent of the washing machine in the Swedish folk home.
Music and words will be performed by national fiddler Josefina Paulson, who holds a bachelor's degree in folk music from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and is a world champion on the nyckelharpa.
Organized by Lilla Utön on Ängsö, in collaboration with Engsö hembygdsförening.
After the performance, there is the opportunity to take a tour of the farm for even more Västmanlänsk history, about the beautiful place.
