Guided Mushroom Hunt in the Forests of Ängsö
Time
Date: Saturday, September 19
Time: 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Collection: The magazine (Ängsö Nature and Culture Museum, across from Ängsö Church)
We'll wrap up at the same place around 2:00 p.m.
The Ängsö Local History Society is once again inviting people to join a guided mushroom hunt on beautiful Ängsö (between Västerås and Enköping).
This tour is perfect for both those who are curious about starting to pick mushrooms and those who have already picked some but want to learn more. Perhaps you’ve fallen in love with chanterelles, funnel chanterelles, and Karl Johan mushrooms and are curious about what other delicious edible mushrooms can be found in our forests. The mushroom tour is led by a mushroom expert Lara Pettersson and the mushroom expert Peppe Frosch from Svampastiskt AB. Together, they also run Sponge.se, where you can read more about their activities.
During the day
We'll explore varied terrain and look for mushrooms while learning more about what we find in the forest.
During the tour, Lara and Peppe go over:
- Species Identification
- Edible mushrooms
- Fungi That Can Be Mistaken for Other Species
- Poisonous Mushrooms
You'll also get tips on how to find good mushroom-picking spots and how to best care for your mushroom harvest.
Theory and practice are interwoven throughout the day, and there’s plenty of time to go over the mushrooms we find during our midday coffee break together.
Price
- Member of the Engsö Local History Society: 195 SEK per person
- Non-members of the Engsö Local History Association: 245 SEK per person
