A farmers’ market, the “Food & People” food tour, golden sunflower fields, and a winding bike trail. You can experience all this and much more during late summer in Fjärdhundraland. A wonderful break from everyday life is a trip to the countryside, where you can recharge your batteries and find inspiration.
Here are some tips on what you can do and experience during late summer.
The Friday Market at Enköping – The Countryside Comes to Town!
At Pepparrotsstaden's Garden & Crafts. August 21, September 11, and September 18 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Pepparrotsstadens Trädgård & Hantverk, Rådhusgatan 2, 745 31 Enköping. On five Fridays in August and September, various vendors from Fjärdhundraland will gather at Pepparrotsstadens Trädgård & Hantverk to sell their products at the Friday Market. These are primarily vendors specializing in edible products and artisanal foods, such as Tullens Grönska and Häst & Grönsaksbonden—locally grown vegetables, Blåsippsbackens Glass—small-batch ice cream, Upplandskubbkokeriet—traditional bread, Bärby Smokehouse—meat and BBQ, and Skokloster Choklad—small-batch fine chocolate.
Wander through a large corn maze
This year’s large corn maze is open again at Giresta Staby Säteri outside Örsundsbro. Here, young and old alike can venture among the tall cornstalks and try to find their way through the maze—a fun outing and activity for the whole family.
While you’re there, why not make a day of it and stop by the shops Det lilla mejeriet and Kejbert Concept, which offer shopping, inspiration, and a chance to enjoy a coffee break in a rural setting. Regular hours for both shops and the corn maze:

Sunday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Food & People – Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, 2026
Smell, taste, look, enjoy—Food & People is an experience for all the senses, where food and people take center stage. Each participating venue offers a small dish or tasting sample for 50 kronor. Many of the participants’ tasting plates feature ingredients and flavors from other Fjärdhundraland members—feel free to ask.
All locations will be participating on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food & People: Map & Menu.

The Uppland Bicycle Trail
The Uppland Bicycle Trail Uppsala is the county’s first regional bike trail, which will open in 2026. Here, you can bike from Bålsta to Enköping, passing through parts of Fjärdhundraland. The route is designed to pass by many attractions along the way. Perfect for a wonderful, peaceful cycling vacation close to the city!
Magnificent sunflowers in a bouquet
At Axel & Gren Outside Uppsala, the sunflower field is in bloom, and the pick-your-own area is open starting in early August. A good tip is to wear long pants, and during or after rain, boots are recommended.
Pruning shears are a must for cutting the sunflowers. You can borrow a pair during the store’s opening hours; otherwise, bring your own.
You'll find parking right next to the sunflower field.
Axel & Gren also has a small flower garden where visitors can pick their own cut flowers (dahlias, sweet peas, etc.).
Tip! The flowers will last longer if you remove most of the leaves before putting them in a vase.
Hårsbäck Days
On the weekend of September 12–13, businesses, organizations, and entrepreneurs will open the doors to their operations. Ceramic figurines, guided tours of agricultural history, a trivia quiz, and a flea market are just a few of the things you can see, buy, and experience during these days. A total of 23 participants are taking part this year.
