Central to Älvängs natur & kulturhus is the love of circus, both as a form of training and a source of inspiration. It offers a place where magic happens in the form of recreation, art and culture, with the location in the middle of nature, in Östa nature reserve.
Inger Jungehall, circus artist and director, and Joel Lindh, clown, performance artist and director, have worked in circus both in Sweden and internationally. In 2017 they bought a circus tent and in 2020 they took over the old länsmansgården barn outside Tärnsjö. Since then, they have worked to build Älvängs nature & culture center. Älvängs is a house of dreams, an oasis for contemporary circus and a place to enable new generations of circus artists.
Located in the middle of the Östa nature reserve, there are good opportunities to hike, paddle and meet to experience the tranquility of the landscape, while practicing circus or developing new projects, dreams and ideas.
Älvängs natur & kulturhus offers Artist in Residence for groups in circus, theatre or other performance art and organizes Fun Camp every year - Heby municipality's summer camp for children and young people with a focus on adventure and circus education.
The large hall in the cultural center can be rented for circuses, cultural productions, weddings, parties or conferences. For those who want to stay overnight, there are nine beds in total.
