Linen Quintet and Svante Henrysson

The Linnaeus Quintet and the versatile cellist Svante Henryson are touring the county.
The Linnaeus Quintet and cellist Svante Henryson collaborated in 2022 with an exciting and successful concert in Uppsala. Now they want to repeat this success and invite more people to experience the unique combination of brass quintet and cello!

Classical and folk

The program is created around Svante Henryson's composition ”Dark Light” for brass quintet and cello, which he composed just for the Linnaeus Quintet. Together they create a unique musical world between folk and classical music.

Versatile musician

Svante Henryson is a versatile musician and composer, active in jazz, classical music and hard rock. He started his career as a double bass player in the Oslo Philharmonic and as a bass guitarist in Yngwie Malmsteen's band.
Nowadays he is a cellist and has also made a name for himself playing the electric cello. Svante has collaborated with many well-known musicians such as Elvis Costello, Roland Pöntinen, Martin Fröst and Anne Sofie von Otter.
As a composer, he has written for orchestra, chamber ensemble and choir. Svante is a member of the Kungl. Musikaliska Akademien and has received the Nordic Council Music Prize.

Linnaeus Quintet

Since 1986, the Linnaeus Quintet has been a dynamic element in Swedish musical life. In addition to its own concert programs in Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, the Linnaeus Quintet plays for children and young people, with choirs and in the healthcare sector.

Since its inception, the ensemble has been committed to renewing the Swedish brass quintet repertoire, which has resulted in some 40 world premieres of Swedish music. Composers such as Mats Larsson Gothe, Rolf Martinsson, Karin Rehnqvist, Marie Samuelsson and Jonas Forssell have written works for the quintet.
