In de eeuwen daarna werd de kerk in alle richtingen uitgebreid, zodat het nu een van de grootste en grootste plattelandskerken van Uppland is en soms \u201dde kathedraal van Tr\u00f6gden\u201d wordt genoemd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De kerk van Veckholm wordt sterk gekenmerkt door de nabijheid van het landgoed Ekholmen, dat lange tijd eigendom was van de familie de la Gardie. Zij hadden de hand in wat er met de kerk gebeurde en het was ook de begraafplaats van de familie. In de jaren 1670 werd begonnen met de bouw van een apart grafkoor, ontworpen door Nicodemus Tessin de Oude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het prachtige altaarstuk werd in het begin van de 16e eeuw in Brussel gemaakt. Het kruisbeeld boven de altaarkast is daarentegen Zweeds en komt uit het laatste deel van de 15e eeuw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-tiled-gallery aligncenter is-style-rectangular\"><div
