Ekolsund Castle is an 18th century pearl nestled in lush greenery. Gustav III was very fond of Ekolsund and in his youth he lived a fun-filled country life at the castle with hunting, parties and tournaments. Today, many people recognize the castle and its surroundings from the TV4 hit Biggest Loser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the castle park, there are as many as thirteen planted avenues with mainly linden trees. Some of the trees have been around since the 17th century! The park environment is not only beautiful to walk in, but the many noble deciduous trees are also perfect habitats for unusual species of insects, lichens and fungi. There is also an arboretum, i.e. a plantation with many different species of trees and shrubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The castle caf\u00e9 and shop are located at the northern castle entrance. Lunch and coffee are served here, and you can sit inside the castle or at the outdoor dining area in the middle of the beautiful castle environment. In the store, you will find, among other things, royal crowns and mantles that turn children into real princes and princesses, but also local food crafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can go on guided tours both in the castle and in the park. At Ekolsund there are good conference opportunities and if you are planning for a wedding, you have found the right place! Beautiful wedding rooms both indoors and outdoors and the possibility for 90 guests to sleep over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

W\u00e4rdshuset opened its doors for the first time as early as 1770 and over the years has been a well-visited hub as an inn and post office. Nowadays, this is the place for good food and drink in a wonderful historical environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to stay overnight, there are many different options, everything from Gustav III's suite at the castle to simple accommodation in Canalladan with shared shower and toilet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
