The church in Husby-Sjutolft<\/strong> began construction at the end of the 13th century and various parts were built as time went on. By the end of the 15th century, the turn had come to build armaments and beat brick arches in the nave. In connection with these building projects were hired the artist Albertus Pictor<\/a> was hired to paint pictures on the ceiling and walls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, there are paintings preserved on both walls and ceilings in the armory and in the tower room. In the nave, there are only paintings on the walls because the arches were rebuilt in the 17th century. All paintings have been whitewashed, but have been restored and are in fairly good condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Husby Sjutolft you can see a wonderful painting of a male lion with cubs and the poor St Erasmus<\/a> who, for the sake of his faith, had his intestines expelled from his stomach, at the same time as he was boiled in a pot. In the armory you will find the Wheel of Life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Albertus Pictor has signed the paintings in Husby-Sjutolft. His signature can be found above the door of the sacristy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
