\u00d6rsunda\u00e5n is the artery through Fj\u00e4rdhundraland. Here, goods and people have been transported since time immemorial. The river was not the unassuming watercourse it is today, but a mighty river that could carry the ships of the Viking Age, directly into the sea.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Viking Age and the Middle Ages, Fj\u00e4rdhundraland was a large country, gathered around \u00d6rsunda\u00e5n and Enk\u00f6pings\u00e5sen. Thanks to the river and the ridges, people could travel and shop in the entire large area, which ended in the north at F\u00e4rnebofj\u00e4rden, and in the south in Birka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
