A few hundred meters apart from each other, two rune stones stand, both of which are raised by women. One has Hedeni raised in memory of her husband Holmfast and their son \u00c4ngle. It is a stately stone adorned with a cross. Hedendis has also erected a stone in Tjurs\u00e5ker, about 7 kilometers away, in memory of her father Ofeg.<\/p>\n
A little further east, at Gyllene Brunnen, stands a fancy triangle-shaped stone. The runes tell that \u00c4rnl\u00f6g has raised the stone after Torsten, her husband and that it was Livsten who carved the runes.<\/p>\n
Also \u00c4rn\u00f6g has raised another stone. It stands in Stora Runh\u00e4llen in Heby municipality. Both times, she hired Livsten to carve the runes.<\/p>\n
Livsten was a prominent rune carver who often made complicated pictures where a four-footed animal was entangled in a bunch of snakes. There are seven stones in the border area between Uppland and V\u00e4stmanland that he has signed and another eleven that are typical of his style. Lifestone lived in the first half of the 11th century.<\/p>\n
