The winding roads from road 55 towards Wik castle<\/a> is bordered by several rune stones. Some of them stand in their original locations. As visible today, as to those who passed by a thousand years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not far from Balingsta, a mighty 2.5 meter high rune stone stands on the north side of the road. It is B\u00f6ksta stone<\/strong> - famous for its hunting motif of a skier with a bow and arrow, a horseman with a sword and a hunting falcon. The rune stone has no crosses or other Christian symbols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Skier is Sweden's oldest preserved depiction of a skier (the oldest painted skier is no more than two miles away). in \u00d6sterunda<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
