Spooky castle walks, a magic staircase and magnificent scenery. Or a more quiet visit to a medieval church to light a candle. Here we offer a selection of all the possibilities for an adventurous fall vacation for both young and old.

1. Skokloster Castle

What happens in the fall when darkness descends on a 350-year-old baroque castle? What are the footsteps that are said to echo through the empty floors? During the autumn holidays, it will be atmospheric, cozy and sometimes a little eerie when the castle is open with activities for the whole family. Information about tours and opening hours can be found at Skokloster Castle website.
2. Open churches and candle sales in Lagunda parish

Café Kyrkstugan is open in the Old Church School in Nysätra Friday October 31 11.00-16.00, Saturday November 1 and Sunday November 2 10.30-16.30. Here you can enjoy good pastries or something more substantial from the menu, warm yourself by the crackling fire inside the lounge or just sit down and talk for a while.
Friday, October 31, 13.00-16.00 Open churches
Open churches with candle sales in the cemetery.
Parish staff and volunteers are on hand to talk about our activities, churches and cemeteries.
For the children, little church rats have been up to no good! Come and look for them - what have they been up to?
3. The green of the shadow - fall coziness in the café

Around Fjärdhundraland there are many opportunities to take a lovely fall walk. A lovely ending is a refreshing lunch or a cup of coffee with pastry at The green of the shadow. In their shop you can find both delicacies and crafts.
4. Hjälstaviken Nature Reserve and Ekolsund Castle

The nature reserve Hjälstaviken is one of Sweden's finest bird lakes. Here you can see birds all year round, with peaks in the migration periods during spring and fall. The shallow and reed-rich lake attracts lots of birds, as many as 265 species have been observed at the lake.
Adjacent to the nature reserve is the ancient Ekolsunds slott & wärdshus. A coffee break in the castle café or lunch in Ekolsund's farmhouse is a perfect ending after a visit to the nature reserve.
5. the magic staircase

Make an exciting experience this Halloween time and visit Trolltrappan in Torstuna. In the middle of the forest in Torstuna, north of Enköping, the trolls have built a staircase through the mountain. At least that's what it looks like.
Trolltrappan, ”The Trolls' staircase", is, from a scientific point of view, a diabase passage that has partly weathered out and formed a gorge in the 4–5 meter high slope. For the visitor, it is a short, fun climb up or down the narrow stairs, which amuses both big and small.
