Lia and Tommy planted the first tree in Solkulla Matskog in the fall of 2019. On a flattened field with stiff clay, they began to create a forest garden according to the principles of permaculture. By mimicking nature's systems to work together, even hard-to-use land can be used to grow edibles.
A greenhouse was added in 2021 because many edible perennials need to be pulled up to cover the forest areas with. At the northern end of the area there is a grove of trees, where the ground is also planted with edible crops. Let Solkulla Matskog inspire you to create your own forest garden on the property!
Lia sees the forest garden as her contribution to finding new ways to feed the Earth's growing population. She believes that everyone can help in some way so that there is an opportunity for us humans to live on our planet.
Lia, who for a long time was a well-known food profile at Café Samt in Enköping, gives cooking classes, lectures on food, health and cultivation and has guided tours in the emerging forest garden.
