Skutters skans

Beautifully situated ancient castle from the Iron Age. The walls are clearly visible and the place is a nice excursion destination for both young and old.Skutters skans is one of about 150 ancient castles in Uppland. People came here to seek protection from enemies in troubled times. The castle was a safe place for both people and pets from the surrounding area.The stone wall surrounding the castle is up to two meters high and in some places the walls are double. Today, apart from the ramparts, there is little to show what the castle looked like when it was in use - there are no traces of houses or past battles.The castle environment gives room for the imagination and it is easy to forget the time while playing straw robbers or Indians. Picnic food never tastes so good as when you've chased away thieves, bandits and evil black knights!
